In terms of breeding practices, duck meat production and fois gras farming are in a category of their own.

In 2018, the AÉCOQ developed its own comprehensive farming guide covering all stages of production: hatchery, breeders, meet production, foie gras production, and even animal transport.

This farming guide was reviewed by a wide range of stakeholders beyond the core duck industry. A review committee was formed to oversee this process, with members representing the following groups:
